4th Grade Science: Engineering, Coding, Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Human Anatomy & Physiology - $400 per year + $50 copy/materials fee
Prerequisite and Student Expectations: Before beginning this course, students should have successfully completed a 3rd Grade Science curriculum and are expected to consistently follow directions.
To instill a wonder of and enthusiasm for science that lasts a lifetime, this 4th Grade Science course provides an engaging learning environment with lots of hands-on learning in the study of Engineering, Coding, Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.
Students will explore 4th Grade Science topics like weathering and erosion, wave properties, the structure of living things, ecosystems, invasive species, several organ systems, brain processing of senses, health, electricity, minerals, rocks, collisions, energy transfer, renewable vs. non-renewable resources, information transfer and technology (patterns used to communicate electronically), programming and more! As an additional component, to discover code and computer language, this course includes an introduction to Coding with Scratch 3.0 for Beginners through fascinating projects that present fundamental programming concepts to help learners gain experience, foster creativity, and develop problem-solving skills.
This class will use amazing books, tutor-created lessons, videos, games, and activities to gain deeper ownership over the sciences and engineering practices as students carry out hands-on STEM experiments, dissections, and perform interactive activities. As children learn scientific facts, they will expand their vocabulary, strengthen their reading fluency, and increase critical thinking and comprehension skills. Educational games will be played to enhance learning.
Note: The 4th Grade Science curriculum is designed to integrate a biblical perspective into science education. This class includes a nutrition component to fulfill the health requirement in the 4th Quarter.
