6th Grade Science
6th Grade Science: Marine Biology/Zoology - $400 per year + $50 lab fee
Prerequisite & Student Expectation: Before beginning this course, students should have successfully completed a 5th Grade Science curriculum and are expected to consistently follow directions.
Course Schedule: This is a Period 1 course scheduled to meet for 1 hour. However, for extensive labs (i.e., dissections, etc.) students will be asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
To instill a wonder of and enthusiasm for science that lasts a lifetime, this course provides an engaging learning environment with lots of hands-on learning in the study of Marine Biology.
In this special ocean-centered zoology course, students will learn all about God’s glorious design of marine organisms. We’ll dive right into the world of ocean creatures and learn about the connections animals make with people as they study oceanography, aquatic ecosystems, animal classifications, animal behavior, animal anatomy, life cycles, ocean technology, and more.
Students will conduct interactive experiments and go on field trips to bring their learning to life. Further, this will be a hands-on dissection course where learners will have the opportunity to dissect a shark, squid, and other sea animals!
This class will use amazing books, tutor-created lessons, videos, audio recordings, games, and activities to gain an understanding of the marine life that share this planet with us.
There is so much to explore in the animal kingdom! If your child is curious about marine biology and wants to know more about it, this is the course for you!
Note: Encompasses relevant topics of Life Science and Earth Science.
