High School World Literature
High School World Literature - $450 + $25 supply fee
In this course, students will read, discuss, and analyze short stories, poetry, drama, novels, and speeches from writers around the world, including the United States. Some of the countries represented are India, South Korea, Chile, Egypt, Israel, Kenya, Great Britain, and Turkey. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing key aspects of various genres and elements of literature, such as point of view, character, setting, plot, figurative language, theme, imagery, symbolism, and more. Students will engage literary works through comprehension assignments and in-class discussions. They will also write response papers and literary analysis papers. The course, content, and assignments are designed with 11th and 12th graders in mind.
Parent-Teacher Expectations: Prior to signing up, it is understood that parent-teachers have thoroughly vetted the literature books to your home/lifestyle choices and beliefs.
